Shot type: the shot type of this Mr. Beans holidays
movie poster is a long shot to show that he is about to step out of the train
and is about to begin his holiday. It is also a long shot to show the beach
that he steps on which connotes to the idea of Mr Bean beginning his holiday.
Hence the title of the production. The angle of the long shot is a straight
shot not high or low it's at eye line level.
·
Body
Language: Mr Bean is known for his comedy, part of his comedy is his
funny body language. He is showing that he is taking a big step out of the
train, a weird step which relates to his comedy. He also smiles weird. His
smile is recognized by everyone because it's unique so his smile connotes his
comedy. The film takes place in Rome and
this explains why he is stepping out of a train with a suitcase. And you can
also, view from his smile and scenery that he is at holiday.
·
Lighting: there is a
high amount of lighting to show that he is in a bright and sunny area, to show
that he is on holiday.
·
Air
brushes/effects: the poster
looks a bit cartoon type possibly to relate back to the idea that it's just a
film and its comedy. The poster looks shiny probably an effect which has been
added to relate to the idea that firstly it's a holiday and secondly to show
that it's a new film production so it could connote an idea of
originality.
·
representation
of the theme/character: the shot only holds the main character and as it is
called Mr Bean Holidays he is the main person in the film so the poster holds a
shot of the main character and the poster itself connotes a brief summary of
the story, which is that Mr bean is going on holiday, and knowing Mr bean he
will cause comedy mischief in his holiday.
·
Text used
and its placement: it says 'disaster is a small step' near the feet of
Mr. Bean, he is just about to take a step and the text is placed near the step
which could connote that Mr. Bean will end up in a disaster as the text and the
wordings connect. the texts font colour is white and this could mean innocent
which relates back to the idea of Mr. bean because his always in difficulty
situations which isn't his fault and he is innocent in all cases, his smile
also makes him look really innocent. So the colour white could also relate back
to Mr. Beans characteristics. The text at the bottom is used to say directors
and actors that names. There is also a text at the bottom of the page which
says when the film will be previewed and this is bold and is in the same colour
scheme because this will catch people’s eyesight and stay in peoples mind, so
that they can remember the information. The grey text is used for the actors
name and everyone else that is staring in the film. The reason why they it is
in small writing is because rowan Atkinson is the main selling point of the
show that is why his name is bigger and more eye catching then everyone else’s.
·
What idea's
I would take from this? I really like how the text and the image go together,
how both of them connect. I also really like the shot angle and type. You can
clearly see what is going on and tells a bit of the story which could help grab
customer's attention and thus make them want to watch the story.
·
Shot type: the shot is a long shot. In the shot you can
see all the siblings of the family and the cast of the film. The story is about
their lives and how they are treated. So the shot holds the main characters. The
shot helps show something about every character. For example one of the
brothers in the poster is wearing a religious hat and is wearing a formal dress
code while the rest are in casual wear this is because in the film he plays the
role of the good sibling and he is the obedient member of the family. So his
clothing suggests a bit about his role in the film.
·
Body
Language: each character in the shot has a characteristic in the film
which they are known for. For example the little boy is jumping on a bouncy
ball and has his hood up this tells us some information about the little boy
and this is the same with every other character in the shot.
·
Lighting: the lighting
is relatively medium and the skin tone has been edited. Maybe to relate back to
the idea that they are Asian and the story is about Asian stereotype.
·
Representation
of the theme/character: the theme of the film is about Asian stereotype how their
lives are being controlled by their father which is a traditionally Pakistani
father, who thinks only he knows what the best is for his sons. They go through
a lot of things and a lot happens in the film between all characters. There are
stereotypes used for example the fathers accent and the way he speaks English
is stereotypical that foreign Asian people cannot speak English properly. The
father is traditional so this is why he is the person that uses most of the
stereotypes, another stereotype is that the father beats his children up and
embarrasses them; this suggests a stereotype about Asian families.
·
Text used
and its placement: the text says 'young, free and soon not to be single'
the text is written on the bottom and one of the sons are almost stepping on
it, the son is showing a thumbs up at the people interested in the film. It
shows that he isn't happy and isn't happy with the idea that his dad controls
his life. There are quotes written in star shapes and they are quotes given by
organizations. They are bright and stand out in the poster to promote the films
and create a good image for the film.
·
Any other
promotional methods? The poster has a bold subheading at the top saying 'British
academy award best British film of the year' it also has little quotes which
others have said. And this makes the film and its content more believable and
people interested in buying this film would believe in the idea that it's full
of comedy due to the quotes and subheading. This is a good way of attracting
customers and they work as pull quotes so they can pull customers attention
into watching the film.
·
What idea's
I would take from this? From this movie poster I would take the idea of
putting up quotes said from recognized organizations which is known by the public
to help raise awareness of the film and also have a subheading at the corner of
my movie poster.
·
Shot type:
the shot type for this movie poster is a close up. The film is about
stereotypes about Muslims and the film is all comedy based. They are a group of
terrorists who try to blow themselves up in a marathon for Islam. The shot
shows a bird strapped with a bomb. This relates back to the whole brief summary
of the film. The bird looks straight at the camera thus and has serious look on
its face. It makes it seem like the bird wants to die an s a terrorist as well.
Which relates to the film that its comedy about serious bombers.
·
Lighting:
the picture holds a bird sitting on a tree and the background is blurred
but it looks like they are in the forest. So the sunlight is probably is
probably the only lighting being used in the poster.
·
Representation of the theme/character: the
bird on the poster is in a forest and this could be related back to training camps
for terrorists as the film is about men who train to be good terrorists. So the
poster connotes a hidden message about what the film is about which is actually
a unique feature. Because in most posters there would be the main character and
with a subheading which says what the film is about. However this film is
really unique in how it's structured and organized.
·
Any other
promotional methods? The person who the film was originated from is in
bold, and this is one way in which the author is trying to promote the video.
He is probably a good and recognizable author and if people saw that the film
was written by him then the film would generate popularity. The text placed at
the bottom of the poster contain other organization who have taken part in the
making of the film, they work as promotional techniques but aren’t that
important so this is why they are written in small writing.
·
What
idea's I would take from this? The poster is really clearly structured and
the close up of the film is really interesting because it shows the bomb and
the birds expression to the bomb strapped against it. Thus this hidden message
is what interests me even more.
